Geraldine Lake

Born in Huntsville, Tennessee, Geraldine was the daughter of Leamon and Bertie (Strunk) Botts. She married the love of her life, Venzel Lake, on October 13, 1951. Sadly he preceded her in death October 25, 1983. A dedicated homemaker Geraldine enjoyed cooking for family and friends, but her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her children: Jean (David) Duncan of Warren, Sandra (Dennis) McLaughlin of Monroe, Denise (Lyn) Hopson of Monroe, Patricia (Dennis) Shankleton of Maybee, Joann Townsend of Monroe, Robert Lake of Monroe, Jacqueline (Thomas) Rood of Eagle, and Joseph (Lisa) Lake of Britton; a brother Jack (Judy) Botts of Bloomington, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Lake. In accordance with Geraldine's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 6:00 on Friday from the Grape Missionary Baptist Church, 368 Ida Maybee Road, Monroe.
