Gerald L. Mansfield, Sr.

Born in Barberton, Ohio, Jerry was the son of Harold E. and Gloria (Welch) Mansfield. He married Sharon M. Polger, on January 19, 1971 here in Monroe. Jerry worked as a Model Maker for Tenneco Incorporated for over 25 years, retiring in 2006. His memberships included: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe(where he cantored 5pm Mass for many years), Floral City Harmonizers, and past member of the Monroe Moose Lodge 884, where he had served as Govenor. He enjoyed collecting antiques, going to Flea Markets and was a huge Ohio State fan. But Jerry was probably best known in the area for his portrayal of Santa Claus. Something he truly enjoyed for over 40years. Jerry leaves to cherish his memory, Sharon, his wife of the past 44 years; children: Gerald (Lucretia) Mansfield, Jr. of Lansing and Daniel J. Mansfield of Monroe; grandchildren: Joseph S. Mansfield of London, Ohio and Jonathan Mansfield of Louisville, Kentucky; four great grandsons; a brother William "Randy" (Janet) Mansfield of North Canton, Ohio; brothers-in-law: Bill (Barb) Stefko of Monroe and Ron (Tami) Stefko of Irish Hills; sisters-in-law: Cathy Stefko of Toledo and Diane (Marty) VanDevelde of Livonia; as well as many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews; and Taquoize Miller, who was like a daughter to him. He will also be missed by his "weenie dog" Beanie. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staffs of ProMedica Hospital, ProMedica Hospice, Fountainview of Monroe and Dr. Jain, Dr. Javaid, Dr. Kabir and Dr. Naqvi for the loving care shown to Jerry and the family.
