George Clifford Mathews, Jr.

George Clifford Mathews, Jr. was born on March 12, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan and died on July 25, 2022 at the age of 75; he was of Woodhaven. Beloved and devoted husband of 57 years to Barbara L. Mathews (Tope). Cherished dad of Brian Clifford Mathews, Danie Todd (the late Peggy) Mathews and Lori Renee (Scott Howard) McMillan. Proud papa of Ashley Briana (Lenny), Amanda Elizabeth (Jimmy) and Harrison Scott and to Aliyah Rose and Owen Rhett. Dearest brother of Robert (Diane) Mathews, Richard (Debbie) Mathews and the late Trina Baker. Also survived by many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Francis Mathews (Bartok). George’s love in in life was his family; he also loved animals and wood working. George retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years of service. There will be no services at this time. Memorial contributions to honor his life may be made to the Woodhaven and Trenton Animal Shelter, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the animal shelter of the donor’s choosing.
