George "Butch" Carlson

George “Butch” Carlson, age 72 of Sylvania, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021. Born October 30, 1948 in Toledo, George was the son of Gustaf and Blanch (Smith) Carlson. He faithfully served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. George worked for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. He also owned and operated Custom Painting. George married the love of his life, Valerie Mowery, on April 28, 1993. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Sylvania and the American Legion in Angola Indiana. George enjoyed golfing and camping, but his most treasured times were those spent with his family. George leaves to cherish his memory, Valerie, his wife of the past 28 years; children: Lisa (Tony) Delong, Gina (Paul) Miller, Mike (Heather) Carlson, Jonathan (Kristie) Mowery and Laurie Mowery; grandchildren: Samantha (Justin) Scott, Casey (Tyler) Hoppert, Kinzie Hooker, Katie Hooker, Marcus Shipman, Hadley Carlson and Perri Carlson; as well as two great grandchildren: Kylie Hoppert and Brantley Loar and a brother Robert Carlson. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
