Genevieve (Pennington) Tostige

Genevieve (Pennington) Tostige of Trenton, MI passed away with family at her side on March 31 st , 2024 at Aerius Nursing Home in Riverview, MI.

Genevieve was born in Pemberton, West Virginia on October 1, 1936 to Ray and Edith Pennington and moved to Lincoln Park. MI as a teen. She graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1954 and after shortly after graduation met the love of her life, the late Albert Tostige who preceded her in death in 1999.

Al and Genevieve settled in Trenton and had three children, James (deceased), Stephen (wife Sonya) and Genevieve Akers (husband Ronald). They loved being ‘up north’ and often vacationed on Lake Leelanau where they cherished memories of summers with family and friends.

While raising her family, Genevieve worked as a caregiver in the Beaumont hospital system for many years and had a variety of interests including gardening, art and home decorating, but always first and foremost was the role of a caregiver for her family. Whether it be caring for her Mother, Father, Husband, Siblings, Children or Grandchildren, Genevieve focused her attention on supporting others in their time of need.

Genevieve is survived by her sister Patty Warrow and brothers Richard and David Pennington; children Stephen (wife Sonya, son Craig, grandchildren Michael and Emily), and Genevieve Akers (husband Ronald, sons Ron and Sean, grandchildren Abby and Evie) and many nieces and nephews.
