Gail Theresa Slade

Click on the tribute wall above to view Gail's video tribute and service. Life and Legacy: Gail Theresa Slade was born on August 8, 1945 to Herman and Beatrice Slade. She was raised by her Grandfather, Elijah, who moved her to Lackawanna, NY to live with Amelia and Buddy Watkins, who welcomed her as their own. They had 5 other children Janice (Bernard) Williams, Marcia Hughes, Valeta Hill, Michelle (Laterald) Brown and Billy Watkins. Gail loved her siblings who all preceded her in death. Gail married Frank Ross in 1967. When they later separated she raised her children as a single parent. She provided for their needs and stressed the importance of education which led each of her children to become successful as college and technical grads. In 1978 she found Christ and was saved in fellowship at Bibleway C.O.G.I.C which later led to her Mormon faith. She led a Christian life until God called her home. Gail opened a home day care (Granny's Kids) founded in Detroit Michigan which later relocated and expanded to a center in Radcliff Kentucky. As her health declined, she closed her business and focused on her family. She loved praising god, prayer, and spending time with her children and grands. Gail leaves to celebrate her life, her six children, Candice Powell, Valorie Slade, Leonard (Maliane) Slade, Frank Ross, Angelique (Charles) Butler, and Nicole Slade. Fourteen Grandchildren, Voulgene (deceased). Cantrell (Lusia), Phillip Jr (Kareesha), Randy, Ricco, Darian, Mantrell, Danielle, Damion, Nae, Bria, Charles III, Amora, Love and many beautiful great grandkids. She also leaves her dearest friends/sisters Kim (Eugene) Goode, LIllian Hayes, Geraldine White and many adopted children through Christ. Great Grandkids (her butterflies): Precious, Tatianna, Cailey, Alysia, Phil Jr, Kamora, Anija, Seyonni, Randy Jr, Autumn, Kamiya, Sariya, Ricco Jr, Mordecai, Azul, Jamal.
