Esther Gross

Gross, Esther, age 80, formerly of Spring Lake, passed away on August 5, 2015 at Elmcroft Senior Living in Brownstown Township. Esther was born in Inkster on August 3, 1935 to her parents Albert and Louise Schmidt (Kelm). She met the love of her life, Dale, during high school. Esther worked as a car-hop for a diner, where Dale would often go to visit her and try to win her love. Dale and Esther were united in marriage on September 5, 1953 in Dearborn Heights. They shared 57 years together, before Dale passed away in 2010.Their marriage was blessed with their three children, Teri, Deb, and David. In addition to being a car-hop during her younger years, Esther also worked in real estate, was a broker, and an accounting clerk. Most importantly, she was a devoted mother and always put her family first. She loved to spend time with her family and was very proud of being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Esther loved being outdoors. Whether it be just gardening in her yard or out in the woods, she appreciated the beauty of nature and loved bird watching and golfing. Esther is the beloved wife of the late Dale. She is survived by her children, Teri (Mick), Deb, and David. Dear grandmother of Caitlin (Robert), Kelsey (Will), Alex (Kristin), Mitchell (Sarah), and Michael. Proud great grandmother of Lincoln. Sister of Albert Jr. A memorial service will be held for Esther at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd, on Saturday at 10 am. Donations in honor of Esther may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
