Born in Rogers City, Michigan, Esther was the daughter of Alfred and Theresa (Kramer) Wirgau. After attending Detroit Lutheran School for the Deaf, she married the love of her life, John Pittner on June 14, 1947. Sadly he preceded her in death March 14, 1992. A dedicated homemaker, Esther was a faithful member of Good Shepherd of the Deaf Lutheran Church in Toledo, she enjoyed playing cards, Yatzee, Bunco and doing jigsaw puzzles, but her most cherished times were those times spent with her family. Esther leaves to cherish her memory her children: Theresa "Tess" Pierce of Monroe, Terry (Peggy) Pittner of Posen and Ivan (Margurite) Pittner of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Harold Pierce; a great grandson Anthony Augusta; as well as 11 siblings. Memorial contributions in honor of Esther may be made to ProMedica Hospice of Monroe.
