Ernest Alan “Duke” Evans, 84, a longtime resident of Brownstown, Michigan, formerly of Dearborn and Trenton, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021.   Duke was born October 22, 1936 in New Cumberland, West Virginia, the son of Herbert Leslie Evans and Anna Mae Frazer, graduating from New Cumberland High School in 1954 before moving to Michigan.   Duke retired from Great Lakes Steel Corporation as Superintendent of the 80” Finishing Mill in 1986. Prior to that he was employed as a technician in the Chemical Lab and the Metallurgical Lab and a Turn Foreman in the 80” Hot Strip. Duke was a member of Safari International and the NRA. Duke enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman for most of his life where he experienced countless adventures alongside friends and loved ones. He was especially fond of his cats, was quick-witted, and enjoyed watching professional sports. Duke’s life ended with kindness and love toward his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leslie Leon Evans, his sister Blanche (F. William) Garvin, son Theodore ‘Ted’ Eugene Evans, and son Matthew Paul Evans.   In passing he leaves behind children Timothy (Bethany) Evans, Britton, MI, Jeanne (Ronald) Ridley, Midland, MI, Thomas (Denise) Evans, Midland, MI, and Mary Joe (Thomas) DeSantis, Trenton, MI, grandchildren Ian (Michelle) Evans, Amber (Luke) Ponce, Jessie (Eric) Wilde, Marshal Evans, James (Barbara) Evans,   Grace Ridley, Hope Ridley, Michael (Debbie) Evans, Daniel Evans, Rachel (Greg) Zavitz, Elizabeth Evans, Jonathan (fiancée Morgan) Evans, Sarah Evans, Kathryn DeSantis, Mariesa DeSantis, great-grandchildren Logan Harris, Riley Evans, Liam Evans, Brynlee Evans, Aurora Ponce, Lyric Ponce, Aidan Rakovitz, Addison Rakovitz, Alice Wilde, Atari Wilde, Archer Wilde, Caerwen Evans, Sophia Evans, James Evans, Luke Evans, Connor Evans and nephew William A. (Deborah) Garvin. The children thank close friend Chris Miller for her support to our dad.   No memorial service is planned. Cremation will be handled by the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, Inc.
