Elizabeth C. Zieske

Born in Senatobia, Mississippi, Elizabeth was the daughter of Robert Ray & Emma (Goetz) Watson. She attended Papermill School as a child and later attended St. Mary School. She married her true love, Ralph Carl Zieske, on May 25, 1935 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maybee. They had been married 72 years when he preceded her in death March 14, 2007. At one time Elizabeth worked at Woodall Industries and also was one of the "Rosie the Riveters" at the Willow Run Plant during World War II. Most of her life was spent caring for children and family. She and her husband were foster parents and also raised their god children; Marie (Lavern) Meyers, Mary Lou (Ken) Joyce and Norma (Leonard) Marshall after the death of their parents. As a homemaker she enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, camping and traveling. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a teacher's aide and belonged to several groups while attending there. Elizabeth was the loving mother to her son Larry L. (Margo) Zieske of Monroe and daughter Nancy Ann Zieske whom she made her home with; grandchildren: Natalie (Aly) Askar, Nathan (Jennifer) Zieske and Nora (Todd) Farmer as well as six great grandchildren: Sarah Kohler, Trae W. Farmer, Zain W. Farmer, Avry W. Farmer, Ahmed A. Askar, Amr A. Askar and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters; Ethel Watson Lajiness of Miami, Florida and Shirley Watson Messner of Port Orange, Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by three brothers Daniel, Robert II and Clyde. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Elizabeth's honor are asked to consider Trinity Lutheran Church or Mercy-Memorial Hospice.
