Eleanor M. Rise

Born in Newton, Illinois, Eleanor was the daughter of Everett and Martha (Woodard) Mitchell. A 1948 graduate of St. Mary Academy, she married Joseph Rise on June 6, 1968. Sadly he preceded her in death March 15, 1985. Eleanor worked various positions throughout her life: as a secretary for St. Mary's Rectory, Monroe Senior Center and Monroe County Senior Legal Services as well as a number of Retail Stores throughout Monroe. She was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Resurrection Choir and the Christian Women, as well as being a Eucharistic Minister and volunteering for the Visitation Committee. Eleanor was also a member of the Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild. Eleanor is survived by her son Mark (Nora) Peters of Boise, Idaho; grandsons: Lt. Colonel Mark (Beatrice) Peters and Mitchell Peters; a great grandchild Sara Peters; as well as a sister Florene Theisen of Monroe. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Bertha Roth and Lametta Schwalb. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honor of Eleanor are asked to consider St. Mary Catholic Church.
