Click on the tribute wall above to view Ednaβs vide π₯π£πππ¦π₯π. Edna Lorraine Scotta, began her heavenly journey on June 28, 2021 in peace and with love of her family surrounding her. Mrs. Scotta was born February 20, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan and was a proud member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She has joyfully joined those who have preceded her in death especially the love of her life, John Scotta and her dearest son, Kenneth, her parents, brothers and sisters, her beloved son-in-law Chuck, and many of her dearest friends. Mrs. Scotta moved to Allen Park in 1950, where she became active in youth activities. Appointed neighborhood chairman of Allen Park in the 1960s, she was instrumental in establishing Girl Scouting in the city. She was proud to have developed day camps for the Downriver Region of Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit served as camp director for several years. Active in Scouting until 1979, Mrs. Scotta carried on a tradition begun by her parents in Southwest Detroit, where she graduated from Southwestern High School. Mrs. Scottaβs life of service to others was honored by Ford Motor Company with six community services awards. Her dedication to children was no more evident than in her work as a special education paraprofessional at both Lindemann and Riley schools in Allen Park from 1969 until her retirement. A gifted leader and speaker, Edna served on many local boards and committees. She was an active member of St. Francis Cabrini Church, participating in Christian Service, Religious activities and funeral lunches. After her husbandβs death in 1972, she established a Downriver chapter of NAIM, a Catholic support organization for widows and widowers. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Cutting), Katherine Scotta, Karol Scotta and Karla and John (Johnson). She is also survived by her granddaughter and best buddy, Kimberly Scotta-Willetts, daughter-in-law, Anna Marie (Dickson) Scotta, son-in-law, John Johnson; grandchildren, Michelle, Anthony, John, Megan and C.J., eight great grandchildren, and many devoted nephews and nieces. All those who were touched by her strength and kindness will celebrate her life forever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
