Edith (Stella) Philomena Priest

Edith was born October 2, 1917 in Lake Leelanau, Michigan to Ferdinand and Ellen Brow, the last of the couple's 12 children. She married the love of her life, Alfred Priest, on August 28, 1934; the two lived in Traverse City for many years. She worked at Bayview Studios as a hand-coloring artist as well as a seamstress at Willham's Department Store during her life in Traverse City. After her husband's death in 1984, Edith moved to Monroe. She was an avid gardener and homemaker, winning several beautification contests throughout the years at her trailer in Oakwood Trailer Park. She loved music and going out to dance, doing so up into her late eighties. In these later years, Edith also loved to visit casinos and found herself very lucky. Edith is survived by her two children: Larry Priest of Traverse City and Shirley (Bill) Preston of Monroe; seven grandchildren: Cynthia Cline, Gene (Roxanne) Derby, Tina (Dennis) Strickland, Dawn (Steven Brown) Knezevich, Sister Mary Bernadette FM, Sister Mary Agnes FM and Joseph (Juliet) Priest; as well as ten great grandchildren: Angel (Mark) Post, Chantel (Jeff) Walker, Heather (Ray) Wright, Jessica Vandevelde, Adam Derby, Alyson Knezevich, Aaron (Amanda Smith) Tochalauski, Shawn (Amanda McFarland) Tochalauski, Erin (Craig Jones) Brown and Amy Wilson and 20 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by eleven siblings: Florence, Louise, Matilda, Marie, Elizabeth, Arthur, Napoleon, Edmund, Clifford, Dennis and Albion as well as two grandchildren: Anthony Salisbury and Stephen Daulpe.
