Edith Marie Langton

December 10, 1947 — December 3, 2024

Edith Marie Langton

Born the daughter of Mick and Irene (McCutcheon) Langton on December 10th in the post war year of 1947, Edie enjoyed a childhood filled with the wonder and optimism of the era until being diagnosed with debilitating rheumatoid arthritis in the sixth grade at age 10 while attending St. Mary grade school in Monroe. In the following years, months long hospitalizations and uncontrollable body temperatures took a physical toll on her body, but not her spirit and determination. With home bound education through elementary and high school years, Edie earned her high school diploma through Monroe high School in 1965.

Despite the physical hardships to her, she loved to travel. Short trip, long trip, near or far, she loved to travel.

Being an Aunt to her Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews was more than a family relationship to her; it was a vocation; a vocation that she excelled at and took very seriously. From teaching them to read to homework helper, it didn’t matter as long as she was helping. Often being described by them as “Not just an Aunt, but an Angel on earth”

Recent years have brought compounding and severe physical health issues. These same physical issues only served to strengthen her faith, resolve, and courage. No matter how dire the situation her genuine response was “I’m OK”. Family was everything to her.

She died peacefully on December 3, 2024 surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Brother-in-law Allen Bressler and Nephew Lucas Langton.

She is survived by her sister Pat Bressler, brother Chuck (Joy) Langton; nieces: Lisa (Dan Sinnott), Amy (Rob) Johnson, Meghan Langton and Lauren (Britain) Drake; nephews: Chuck (Christen) Langton Jr and Kyle (Caitlin) Langton; great nieces and nephews: Emma Sinnott, Ava Sinnott, Jared Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Margaret Langton, Charles (Mickadoo) Langton, Declan Langton, Bentley Langton and Evelyn Langton.
