Edith Mae Mitchell

Edith was born on September 3, 1945 in Goshen, Alabama and passed away on June 2, 2024 at her home in Southgate, Michigan at the age of 78. Beloved mom of Dana Mitchell and Renee Jackson. Cherished granny of Dantae George. Dearest sister of Curtis Jackson, Callie Mae Bodiford-Dean, Glen Bodiford, Valerie Bodiford, AC Ramsey, Rufus Jackson, Jr., Dewayne Jackson, and Douglas Jackson. Dearest cousin of Johnny Jackson, Joe Jackson, Sharon Jackson & Willie C Youngblood. Also survived by other loving family and friends Elijah & Rebecca Fizer, Geneva, Rosalind, Arneva, Sharon and Lisa. Preceded in death by her parents Mr. Rufus Jackson and Johnnie Mae Youngblood and her grandmother, Vera Jackson. She will be missed by her dog, Blu.

Edith retired as a Registered Nurse from Oakwood-Beaumont Hospital and she had such a love for nursing and serving that she continued working after her retirement. Her family was her love in life; she enjoyed the little things like going to Kroger and Westborn Market, shopping on Zulily, watching Westerns and Gun Smoke with her grandson. Edith had a love for blueberries & grapefruits. She was easygoing and it did not take much to make her happy; she knew what she wanted and would speak her mind when needed. She was truly loved and will be missed dearly. A memorial service is being planned and information will be added when confirmed. Memorial contributions may be made as the donor chooses.
