Duane D. Bates, of Lincoln Park, and longtime downriver resident, passed away May 8, 2022. Loving father of Sabrina, Lauren and Cole. Proud son of Audree Bates and the late Everett Bates. Cherished brother of Jason and Jeremy Bates. He is survived by his large extended family and friends. Duane was talented when it came to working with his hands. He loved to work on cars. He treasured the moments spent with his son, Cole, building and maintaining RC cars. He was always working on some project, often he was known as a mad scientist. He loved to invent and improving the efficiency of something. In high school, he built a coffee pot system in his locker so he could enjoy a hot cup of coffee between classes. He was very well known in the community and very intelligent. As the owner of Expert Technology Systems, he was very computer savvy. He cherished his family the most, as momma’s baby boy, to being a proud father to his kids. The time spent going up north to ride four wheelers and teaching his children how to swamp, he had a true love for being outdoors. His biggest pride and joy in life, besides his family, was getting his private pilot’s license. That is where he truly felt free. Visitation will be held at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, Trenton Chapel on Friday May 13, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm. A private burial will take place on Saturday May 14, 2022 at Michigan Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Duane to Michigan Humane Society.
