Dr. Fausto Antaran

Fausto “Tito” Antaran was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Fausto passed away on September 20, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born to Lauriano Antaran and Dionesia Torres on December 18, 1933 in Banga in the province of Aklan, Philippines. Fausto followed his dreams to go to medical school and moved to Cebu City, Philippines, where he attended and graduated from Southwestern University in May of 1965. While completing his residency at Marian College of Nursing in Manila, he met the love of his life, Lourdes So. They married in 1968 and gave birth to their first child, Angelo, a year later. While Fausto was working at the National Children’s Hospital in Manila, Fausto and Lourdes had their second child, Maria Tricia Antaran.

On February 21, 1971, the then family of four moved to the United States of America, first arriving in Hawaii, stopping in California, and finally settling in Riverview, Michigan. Fausto worked midnight shifts in the Labor and Delivery Birthing unit at the Art Center Hospital in Detroit. In 1972, they bought their first house in Woodhaven, Michigan. Their third child, Michael, was born in 1973 and their final child, Liza, was born in 1975. With their family now complete, the six of them moved into their new home in 1976, where they shared many incredible memories and important milestones. After over 30 years in that house, the couple moved into a condo in Flat Rock, Michigan.

Between the years of 1998 and 2015, Fausto and Lourdes became proud grandparents (a.k.a. “Lolo” & “Nanay”) to eight beautiful grandchildren – Allison, Sydney, Christian, Hannah, Javier, Ethan, Elisabeth, and Jeremiah. Fausto was a great “Lolo” and supported their sporting events, performances, rehearsals, concerts, graduations, and other milestones. He was so proud of each and every one of their accomplishments.

Fausto loved spending time fixing things around the house, helping Lourdes make Filipino food, waiting by the door to greet people, and watching the Detroit Lions, The Price is Right, and the news. He frequently attended mass at St. Roch Catholic Church in Flat Rock, where he assisted his wife with parish events and funeral luncheons. Everyone who knew Fausto felt his big heart and giving nature.

Fausto is survived by his sons Angelo (Jamie) and Michael (Maria), and daughters Tricia (Greg) and Liza (Kevin); grandchildren Allison, Sydney, Christian, Hannah, Javier, Ethan, Elisabeth, and Jeremiah; sister Noemi Antaran; several cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Fausto was preceded in death by his parents Lauriano Antaran and Dionesia Torres, in-laws Benito Orega So and Esperanza Martelino Ysla, sisters and brothers Vicitacion Ramos, Lealdad Rigodon, Lucia Bolivar, Juliana Revestir, and Aurelio Antaran, and countless other loved ones.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, September 23rd at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 2565 3rd St, Trenton, MI. Following the mass, family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of Fausto’s incredible life at the Brownstown Event Center at 23345 King Road.
