Dr. Edwin J. Grzesik

Edwin John Grzesik was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 29, 1936 to Rozalia and John Grzesik. He had five siblings: 4 brothers and 1 sister. Edwin worked in his parent's corner grocery all during his school years. While growing up he attended Our Lady Queen of Angels Grade School and St. Hedwig High School. He then attended Wayne State University and went on to graduate from Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery in 1962, a Doctor. He then made his way back to Michigan where he interned at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton, Michigan where he met his wife, Helen, on a blind date. They were married on September 21, 1963 and have been married for 54 years. He opened his 1st office in Gibraltar, Michigan one month before they were married. Five years later they remodeled a ranch house on a hill into an office in Trenton where he practiced for 25 years. In 1972 they adopted two brothers from Canada and one year later adopted three more children: 2 brothers and a sister. Edwin retired in 1991 due to medical reasons. Edwin liked to hunt and fish and took the boys on fishing trips to Texas. He also liked vacationing at their cottage up north. He is survived by his wife Helen; his children Stephen, Roderick, Lester, Dorothy (Richard) Jacobson and Michael; 11grandchildren Ashley, Matthew, Jennifer, Chance, Denim, Journey, Season, Garden, Edge, Hutch and Emily; 2 ½ great grandchildren; his sister-in-law Carolyn Toth as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation is on Saturday from 5 – 8 pm and Sunday from 2 – 8 pm at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd., Trenton. Edwin will lie in state on Monday at 9:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Trenton until the Funeral Mass on Monday at 10 am. Interment Our Lady of Hope Cemetery.
