Born in Centerline, Michigan, Douglas was the son of James and Ethel (Butler) Vanderbush Sr. A graduate of Midland High School, he worked as a Janitor for Airport Community Schools for over 27 years, retiring in 2006. He was married to Karen Troxell April 20, 2001. Douglas was known as a handyman that could fix almost anything, somewhat of a "jack of all trades". He loved the outdoors, animals (especially birds) and working in his garden. Douglas is survived by Karen, his wife of the past 16 years; children: Dale (Wendy) Vanderbush of Midland; step children: James (Melody) Hensley of Monroe and Kinsey Hensley of Monroe; grandchildren: James Vanderbush of Midland, Daniell Vanderbush of Hale and Samantha Vanderbush of Midland; as well as his step grandchildren: Ella Hensley of Monroe and James Hensley of Monroe. He is also survived by his siblings: James Vanderbush of Midland, Ralph Vanderbush of Midland, Pete (Joan) Vanderbush of Sanford, Don (Jane) Vanderbush of North Carolina and Bev Vanderbush of Ludington. Sadly Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Harvey Vanderbush and Dorothy Lori.
