Flanagan, Dorothy M. (nee Torbron) of Allen Park, passed away on October 6, 2016 at age 93. Beloved wife of the late Harry. Loving mother of Kathleen (Robert) Cooley, Timothy (Ilene) and the late H. Thomas. She leaves behind 4 generations consisting of 6 grandchildren: Kim Clark, Mike Flanagan, Scott Cooley, Colleen Flanagan, Kevin Flanagan and Patrick Flanagan; 12 great grandchildren: Alexandria Clark, Sara Norton, Samantha Clark, Shelby Norton, Nicholas Flanagan, Jessica Dooley, Shauna Cooley, Meagan Flanagan, Brian Flanagan, Lindsay Flanagan, Scotty Cooley, Dora Scoville; and 7 great great grandchildren: Kenzi Pacholski, Olivia Pacholski, Emma Roman, Karsyn Pacholski, Logan Kies, Nolan Horvath and Kain Flanagan; as well as her sister Karen (Raymond) Ristic. Dorothy was active with the DAR and obtained 16 gold bars representing her ancestors who had served in the American Revolution. Along with her sister, Karen, and brother-in-law, Ray, they published 2 books about their family ancestry. During their research they travelled across the country visiting libraries, courthouses and cemeteries for over 40 years. Besides genealogy and traveling, Dorothy had many interests, some of which included: sewing, quilting, cross stitch, ceramics, knitting, crocheting and numerous other crafts. Her sporting interests included bowling, golf, water and snow skiing. She was an excellent card player and especially enjoyed playing euchre and loved to garden. Dorothy was very active in her church and participated in several organizations sewing and knitting for charities. Other organizations in which she was active were various genealogy societies, American Legion, VFW and Elks. Visitation is Tuesday 3 pm – 8 pm at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. Dorothy will lie in state Wednesday 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Taylor until the funeral liturgy at 10 am. Interment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Angela Hospice or to the American Cancer Society
