Dorothy Jane "Janie" Kamin

Dorothy Jane “Janie” Kamin, age 87 of Southgate, passed to God’s care on November 15th, 2020. Born in South Rockwood on December 29th, 1932 to the late Clarence and Dorothy Kemp. She was one of six children. Growing up she worked on her father’s farm. On January 6th, 1951, Dorothy married the love of her life, the late Russell Sr., and together they were blessed with 5 loving children of their own; Russell Jr., Kenton, Keith, the late Patricia and Rhonda. Sadly, along with her husband and daughters, Dorothy was preceded in death by grandsons Russell J. Kamin III, Mathew; sisters Barbara and Alice, and brother Irving Kemp. Dorothy worked 23 years at Federal’s Department Store. Eventually attaining the managerial level. She then worked for 10 years in management at the Hardee’s Food Chain. In 1984, Dorothy proudly attained her high school diploma, graduating alongside her youngest daughter Rhonda. Visitation will take place on Friday November 20th, 2020 from 1-8pm at the Allore Chapel- Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm, Monroe, MI 48162. On Saturday November 21, 2020 the family will receive friends from 10am until time of Funeral Service 11am, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 15600 Trenton Rd., Southgate, MI 48195. A procession to Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery, Livonia, MI, to immediately follow.
