Click on tribute wall above to view Dennis' memorial video. Dennis J. Church, of Woodhaven, passed away September 29, 2021. Loving husband to Susan for 50 years. Loving dad to Brian (Tina) Church and Amy (Shad) Leonard. Proud grandpa to Kirstina and Daniel. Dear brother to the late Gail Church, Carol Ricci, Michael Roberts and Richard Roberts. Beloved uncle and great uncle to many. Denny graduated from Allen Park High School where he met Sue. They were high school sweethearts and married on March 13,1971. Denny proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Guam. He worked at Great Lakes (US) Steel for 27 years. After that he held various positions at other companies before retiring from the Great Lakes Water Authority in 2016. He also volunteered with the Auxiliary Police in Trenton and served as a lieutenant the last few years. He loved and served God and was an active member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trenton. There he served as a trustee, worked with the youth group and was on the Evangelism team. He also played in the church's softball, golf and hockey leagues as well as sang in the choir. He loved music and dancing and was a great dance partner. He loved retirement and going to Florida in the winters, and spent most of his summers at their condo on Lake Erie. He enjoyed taking trips with his family, going to Las Vegas, motorcycling out west and chaperoning numerous youth gatherings. But most of all, he adored spending time with his family and friends. He always supported his children and their activities such as sports and boy scouts. If you needed a smile, Denny would always make you laugh by teasing you or with a silly saying. If you wanted to find Denny, he would usually be found in the sun near the water with a glass of red wine nearby. He truly was one of a kind. Mssks are being required by the request of the family for the viewing and funeral, regardless of vaccination status. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Dennis to St. Paul Youth or Trenton Police Charities.
