March in Monroe, Debra was the daughter of Cleatis & Martha (Fleemon) Lester. She married the love of her life, Terry Laurain, on June 25, 1986. A dedicated homemaker, Debra also had received her nursing degree from Monroe County Community College. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Debra enjoyed gardening, flowers and decorating (especially Christmas Trees). Debra leaves to cherish her memory, Terry, her husband of the past 27 years; children: David Ludwick of Dundee, Sarah (Peter) Ludwick-Davis of Temperance, Laura Ludwick of Monroe, Terry "T.J." (Nicole) Laurain Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, Jacob Vaughn of Houston, Texas, Katie Laurain of Monroe and Hope Laurain of Monroe; four grandchildren: Nathan Davis, Luke Davis, Jesse Tyler Vallade and Shelby Sivils; as well as a brother Kenneth (Sharon) Lester of Newbern, North Carolina, a sister Joyce (Walter) Powell of Canyon Lake, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Sadly Debra was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call Tuesday from 4pm until 9pm and Wednesday from 12noon until 9pm at the Allore Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm Ave. A celebration of Debra's life will take place at 10am Thursday from the funeral home. Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Debra's honor are asked to consider Paula's House.
