David James Kottke

David James Kottke, of Allen Park, passed away June 5, 2023. Loving son of Helen Mary Mazaitis and the late James Milton Kottke. Cherished brother of Eric Keith Adkins, Andrea Elizabeth Thomason, Kristen Leigh Kottke. Beloved fiancé of Gabriela Gomez Morales. Proud uncle of Alessa, Cade, Ashley Nina, David Jr., and Airen. He is survived by his aunt Lisa; his cousins, Steven, Joey, Nichole and Becky. He is preceded in death by his father James Milton Kottke, his stepfather Freddie Mazaitis, his grandmother Mary, his uncle Joe, his aunt Mary, his grandfather Joe Lakatos. He will be dearly missed by his four-legged children, Bear and Lilly, as well as his best friends Alex Alakson and Demery Anderson.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years as a sergeant, with tours in Korea and Iraq. He became a journeyman and worked at Heat and Frost Insulators, Local #25. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play sports. He was interested in politics and enjoyed listening to music, especially Tupac. He enjoyed cooking for his family.


Visitation will be held at The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes- Allen Park Chapel on Saturday June 10, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A military honor and funeral service will take place Sunday June 11, 2023 at 11:00 am.


Memorial contributions can be made in memory of David to a suicide prevention organization of the donor’s choice.
