David Franklin Winters

David, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was the son of Joseph and Mary Frances (Rogers) Winters. He became a naturalized USA citizen on November 29, 1976. Dave was married to Shawn Marie Missinne on February 11, 2000. He worked in the Graphic Arts/Communications profession for most of his employment career. After his retirement he devoted his life to being the ultimate house-husband, treating his wife like a queen. He was a volunteer Firefighter and EMT for the Flat Rock Fire Department. Dave most enjoyed his wife & children, classic cars, his wife & children, old movies, and his wife & children. He was most known for his lightening quick witty comebacks and silent teary laughing. Dave was also somewhat of a gourmet cook, as anyone fortunate enough to have enjoyed one of his from-scratch meals knows… but his very most treasured times were those spent with his family. David leaves to cherish his memory Shawn Marie, his wife of the past 20 years; children Jason (Jennifer) Winters, Maggie (Kelley) McManus, and Lindsey (Aaron McClain) Winters; a grandson, Liam Rhys; as well as his siblings Joanne (Terry) Trush, Robin Creel, Ron Winters, and Jon (Jessica) Winters and many, many nieces & nephews. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Diane (Simpson) Winters, a brother-in-law Jeff Creel, and a sister-in-law Julie Winters. Memorial contributions in honor of David may be made to the family or a charity of donor’s choice.
