Darwin Edison Johnson, Jr.

Born March 23, 1923 in Monroe, Darwin was the son of Darwin & Margaret (Weatherholt) Johnson. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy serving during World War II and then with the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Sarah Bodenmiller, on February 11, 1956. Sadly she preceded him in death February 8, 1978. Darwin at one time worked for Burroughs Computer Company. He then went to work at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1988. Darwin leaves to cherish his memory his children: Scott Johnson of Ypsilanti, Suzanne (Curt) DeVos of Coopersville and Steven (Lauren) Johnson of Grand Haven; seven grandchildren: Josh DeVos, Sarah DeVos, Laura DeVos, Emily DeVos, Mary DeVos, Ben Johnson and Mary Grace Johnson; as well as two sisters: Loretta Baczor of Dearborn Heights and Verna VanStone of Carleton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Alvin Johnson, Alfred Johnson, Raymond Johnson and Charles Johnson; and five sisters: Lila Barron, Viola Baumeister, Ethel Jackson, Dorothy Johnson and Martha Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Hospice of Grand Rapids.
