Cynthia Janisko

Born in Monroe, to Gilbert and Dolores (Pointer) Steinman, she attended St Joseph Grade School, Maybee, and graduated from St Mary Academy, Monroe, in 1982. She was the proud and loving mother of two sons, Nicholas (Julia) Janisko of Cleveland, OH and Benjamin Janisko of Maybee. Cindy was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education of the Visually Impaired. She obtained her Master's Degree in special education. She spent 27 years teaching the visually impaired in schools in Canton, Ohio and was currently a Teacher Consultant for the Visually Impaired at the Monroe County Intermediate School District. Through love, humor and learning Cindy impacted her students lives and will be deeply missed. Her greatest joys were crafting and making doll clothes. She shared her talents of crocheting, sewing, fabric painting and jewelry making with the Clever Country Clovers 4-H Club, of which she was a leader. Every weekend that she didn't spend watching the Detroit Tigers or the Cleveland Browns, she was antiquing. Cindy was very excited about all the treasures she brought home. Cindy is survived by her six sisters and one brother, Carlina Breitner of Bear Lake, Debra Diehl of Copemish, Maria Wright of Monroe, Linda (William) Shurlow of Potterville, Patricia Steinman of Leeton, Missouri, Paul Steinman of Raleigh, North Carolina and Melissa (Steve) Borbely of Maybee and 20 nieces and nephews. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, David, and brothers-in-law, Mark Breitner and Sidney Wright. Memorial contributions can be made to Braille Competition Scholarship or the Seedlings Braille Books for Children Company, Livonia. Cindy was fun loving, boisterous, generous, and everybody's best friend. She touched the lives of many and will forever be remembered.
