Clifton Wombles

Clifton Wombles, March 18, 1937 – April 18, 2022 Riverview, Michigan - Clifton Wombles, age 85, passed away on April 18, 2022. He was born in Baughman County, Kentucky on March 18, 1937 to the late Charles Wombles and Haley Wombles. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Wombles. They met as teenagers and enjoyed a wonderful life together raising children and grandchildren and enjoying the farm where they lived most of their life. He lived for the Lord and his family and that was the most important thing to him and what gave him his greatest joy. Cliff was a proud father and a personal hero to his five children, Sherry (Ken), Charlotte (Ron), Clifton Ray (Christine), Kandi, and Randy. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, two brothers Gordon Wombles and Lonnie Wombles, sister Lorraine Napier, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Charles and mother Haley and sister Loretta Jackson. Cliff was a humble, kind, and generous man who treated everyone like family. He was the Owner Operator for C&D Trucking. He loved meeting new people and driving his semi-trucks. He retired at the age of 79 doing a job he loved. He met so many wonderful people along the way that he held near and dear to his heart. He loved raising animals; (cows, pigs, chickens, and turkey’s). He loved music, sitting around playing the guitar with his son Randy. He loved to talk and tell stories of his life and experiences and share them with his oldest son Clifton and other family members and friends. He really enjoyed having spiritual discussions with his daughter Charlotte and his son in law Ron. His daughter Kandi was always making his favorite meals of Gravy and Biscuits, Meatloaf / Mashed potatoes / Ribs. His favorite times including spending time with his brothers Gordon and Lonnie; they were the Three Amigos. He never missed a family gathering. He loved the Lord, Family, and life. He appreciated every day he was given on this Earth. Special thanks to his daughter Sherry Polzin and his son-in-law Kenneth Polzin for their extra care and support of their father over the last many years. Dad always said he wanted for nothing; he had everything he needed and that Sherry made sure of that.
