Claire “Clara” Lavina Aiello, nee Cossignani, who was 90 years-old, passed away surrounded by her family and friends at her home in Allen Park Saturday, March 25, 2023. Beloved widow of Frank “Sharkey” Aiello, proud mother of Frank (Laurie Balian) Aiello and Lisa Aiello, and the most incredible Noni to Kail (Josh Pope), Alec (Tessa Raymond) and Arden Aiello (Spencer
Kitchen). She was also a great grandmother to Rohan Pope. She was pre-deceased by her parents Luigi and Letiza Cossignani, her sister, Rose Damiani, and her brother, Alfred Cossignani.
Clara was born in the suburbs of Chicago and at a young age moved to Detroit with her family. She spent the rest of her life in the suburbs of Detroit. She was a first-generation Italian, through and through, and was proud of her Italian heritage. After working a clerical job for the government, she married Sharkey and proceeded to raise their family. She became a stay-at- home mom, and loved her family life. Nothing made her happier than when she was cooking an Italian meal for her family and friends, and boy could she cook! She was gregarious, kind, and absolutely fun-loving. She will be deeply missed.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
