Chris Charles Spalding

Chris Charles Spalding, age 71 of Monroe, went home to heaven on February 12, 2023.

Born in Monroe, Chris was the son of Rollin and Rita (Brancheau) Spalding. He faithfully served our country in the United States Navy serving overseas in Vietnam from 1970-1971. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1973, he resided in California for many years. While living there, he worked Maintenance at several California colleges. He returned to Michigan and was employed as a deconner in the Radiation Protection Department at Fermi II in the 1990s. He enjoyed fishing and made many of his own fishing lures, playing guitar and riding his electric bicycles all over town. Chris also loved cats and was a great friend to many a stray. He also attended Jefferson Schools. He would have been a 1970 graduate, but left at age 17 to join the United States Navy. While at Jefferson, Chris was a member of the high school band, playing the coronet.

Chris leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Elika Spalding of Japan; siblings: Dean (Terrie) Spalding of Raleigh, North Carolina, Adele Peterman of Carleton, Michigan and Darrel Spalding of North Carolina. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Andrea Spalding Kennedy.

His cremated remains will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023.
