Chauncey “Sonny” Gilbert Ernest Jr. Born on January 1, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, earned his wings and went through the gates of Heaven on April 5th 2022 at his home in River Rouge, Michigan, with family and friends by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, father, Chauncey Gilbert Ernest Sr., mother Lillian Mae Ernest, one sister Mary Marlane Peters and his late wife Dorena Mae Ernest. He is survived by his three children, Son Chauncey Gilbert Ernest IV, (wife Lisa) of Madison Heights, MI, Daughter, Ellen Marie Ernest of Tonopah, NV, Son, Edger “Eddie” Lee Ernest of St. Louis, MO. “Sonny” is also survived by his siblings Constance Jean Dziedziak of Gregory,MI,, Sharon Leah Knudsen of River Rouge, MI, Dewey Charles Ernest of Chickisaw, AL, and Tammy Louise Brindle, (husband Ken) of Jackson, MI. Sonny is also survived by his 9 grandchildren; Markie Christian Lynn Spano, Joshua Lee, Ernest, Brittaney Tailor-Ann Ernest, Adrianna Lynn Ernest, Chauncey Gilbert Ernest V, Seth Lee Ernest, Donna Mae Carolyn Real, Avery Jacob Real and Justin Lee Real. 5 great grandchildren; Gianna Melody Gruzwalski, Adrian Gruzwalski, Grayson Anthony Gruzwalski, Elaina Louise Ernest, and Justin Daniel Cunningham Jr., which he loved all very much, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Chauncey “Sonny” Ernest worked in Construction with Holloway Brothers Construction during many of his working years. He loved to go to church and sing gospel music. He was an active member and attendee at Harbor of Life church. Working his jigsaw puzzles was a huge hobby for Sonny. He enjoyed sitting on his porch in his swing in the evenings when the weather was nice. He liked watching western movies, reality court TV shows and wrestling on TV, working on cars was a hobby in his younger years. Sonny loved spending time with his family, One of the things on his bucket list was to go to Frankenmuth. He was able to go in 2021 when he was first diagnosed with his illness.
