Charles "Mike" Wilson

Born in Lafollette, Tennessee, Mike was the son of Ralph and Lorraine (Thomas) Wilson. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army from February 6, 1969 until February 11, 1971, in both Vietnam and Cambodia. Mike was awarded 3 Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars as well as many others. Mike marred the love of his life, Katy Riggs, on September 4, 1972 here in Monroe. He worked over 17 years for the Veterans Administration as a Warehouse Manager, retiring in 1999. Mike was a member of the Monroe County Rod and Gun Club, VFW Post 1138 Monroe and the Military Order the Purple Heart. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mike leaves to cherish his memory, Katy, his wife of the past 24 years; children: JR (Laura) Duvall of Monroe, Tom Duvall of Monroe, Gerry (Melissa) Duvall of Maybee and Regina (Patrick) Johnson of Monroe; a brother Oscar Wilson of Monroe; and a sister Chris Goans of Monroe; as well as 18 grandchildren: Donald, Christopher, Emily, Heaven, Brittany, Kelsey, Katy, Tyler, Hannah, Parker, Adrian, Andrew, Alex, Addisson, Austin, Sheldon, Tom Jr. and Blake; and 3 great grandchildren. Sadly he was preceded in death by his parents.
