The youngest of six children, she was born December 5, 1930 in Detroit to the late Stanislaw (Stanley) and Anna (Madej) Ziemba, both immigrants from Poland. Cecelia was a 1949 graduate of St. Andrews Catholic High School and then began work as a proofreader in the photographic department of General Motors Company in Detroit, MI, where she met her husband, George R. Sander of Santa Fe, NM; daughter, Dianne L. (Rick Crouch) Guenther of Marion, OH; and son, Steven J. (Kristen) Sander of Sarasota, FL. Cecelia retired in Florida, residing in Winter Haven, Punta Gorda, and Sarasota. A devout Catholic, she was a member of a parish in whichever community she lived. She enjoyed cooking traditional Polish family recipes, traveling, boating, coin collecting, and playing euchre. In addition to her parents, Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years in 1998; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Theodore (Ted) Ziemba of Detroit, MI; Joseph and Stella Ziemba of Taylor, MI; Brunislaw (Bruno) and Lottie Ziemba of Detroit, MI; William and Marcella Ziemba of Dearborn, MI; and her brother-in-law, Felix Urban of Manistee, MI. She is survived by her older sister, Lottie Urban, 91, of Manistee, MI and her children. Cecelia will be missed by her family, friends, the Brookdale of Phillipi Creek assisted living community in which she lived, and 'Gus,' her four-legged Yorkie companion. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Cecelia's memory to St. Anne's Catholic Church, 2420 North Dixie Highway, Monroe, MI 48162. The family wishes to thank the staff at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota for their kind and thoughtful care.
