Carolyn And Arnold Sotke

Sotke, Carolyn, F., age 75, August 31, 2020 and Arnold E, age 77, September 3, 2020 of Taylor, Michigan. Loving mother of Jason (Stacy) Sotke and Brandy Sotke Boyd. Proud grandparents of Eston, Luke and Landon. Dearest sister of Pat (Bill), Bob, David (Marsha), Vicki and the late Paul. Carolyn was born in Dibrell, TN. As a child her family moved to Michigan to work in the automotive industry. Arnie was born and raised in Detroit, MI. They met while attending Detroit Western High School. Arnie graduated in 1962, Carolyn in 1963. After graduation Carolyn worked at Powell Photo Studio while Arnie joined the Army. They were together five years before marrying on August 22, 1970. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just this year. They were the embodiment of love. Love for each other, love for family and love for friends. They barely remembered a life without each other. They were happily inseparable. They loved and supported Jason and Brandy in everything they did as kids and as adults. They sat through endless tennis matches, volleyball matches, baseball games, basketball games and even track meets (now that's love). As adults their support for their children turned to careers, family, hobbies, vacations. They happily joined in any adventure and traveled down any path that was taken. Their grandkids, Eston, Luke and Landon, were the center of their world. They loved those three boys with all their hearts. Their support was once more centered on the field of sport including lacrosse, basketball, baseball, and soccer. They were happy to add music to the calendar as well. They never missed an opportunity to celebrate the milestones of life with their children and grandchildren. Their extended family and friends were also an integral part of their lives. Brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews were counted among their most cherished friends. Carolyn and Arnie were friends to so many. With the Sotkes, once you were brought into their circle, you became family. From childhood, to high school, to their neighborhood, and beyond they built friendships everywhere they went. They were proud supporters of their alma mater, Detroit Western High School. They worked with their fellow classmates to establish the Alumni Association and the college scholarship fund. They helped to raise money and took great pride in reviewing applications and awarding scholarships. Because of their legacy the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Detroit Western High School Alumni Association in their honor. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In their memory, the family asks that you please cherish those you hold dear, wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands often and pray for the end of Covid-19.
