Carl David Jones

Carl David Jones was born on February 28, 1925 in Wyandotte, Michigan and died on March 1, 2016 at his home in Southgate at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Ruth. Loving dad of Sharon (Philip) Wild, Teri (Ty) Hadrian, Gwendolyn (John) Ferrari and Beverly (Kerry) Landers. Proud grandpa of Kristen, Robert, Angelique, Kara, Jason, Jeffrey, Branden, Nichole, Justin, Ryan and Sean. Great grandpa of 28. Also survived by his childhood friend, James Laidler as well as other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents William and Frieda (nee: Lewis) Jones, 4 sisters Florence, Thelma, Ada and Elaine and 3 brothers William, Orson and Melvin. Carl was a graduate of Ecorse High School, a retiree of Great Lakes Steel and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Park; he was a voracious reader with an excellent intellect who had a great love of learning. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 3 – 8 pm at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (Corner of Goddard). Funeral service is on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 12 pm at the funeral home; Pastor William H. Clark will officiate. Interment Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
