Carin Frances Vincent (Naru) 73, of Monroe, passed away on December 5, 2022. Beloved wife to Richard for 48 years, loving mother to Terry (Bree), grandmother to Brett, Dylan, Makenna, Lily, and Brennan. Beloved sister to Daniel (Linda), Amy (Oscar), Matthew, and Janet. Devoted Aunt to Erin, Courtney (Sean), Brandon (Julie) and Morgan (Hassan). Treasured niece to Elaine Horwath. Loved and remembered by her many cousins and countless friends.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Carin was the first of 5 children born to Carl and Charlotte (Berjeski) Naru. In 1953, they moved to Garden City where Carin attended St. Raphael’s Catholic School until 8th grade, then Garden City West High School, graduating in 1967. She attended Eastern Michigan University and studied English, earning a teaching certificate. There, she became a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. While attending college, she worked for Michigan Bell, eventually going to work for the State of Michigan. She became a case worker there for the Department of Human Services until she retired in 2009.

She married the love of her life, Richard Alan Vincent February 2, 1974 after being introduced by lifelong friends, Ernie and Linda Prior. They were set-up on a blind date after Rick returned from being stationed in Turkey in the Air Force. Their only child, a son, Terry Alan Vincent, was born November 16, 1976. She often said he was the “best thing that ever came into my life.” On May 8, 2003 she became a grandmother for the first time to twin boys, Brett and Dylan Vincent. They became the lights of her life. Her family was completed in 2015 when Terry married Bree, and she became a grandmother again to Makenna, Lily, and Brennan.

Carin enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She was a talented crafter and sewer, and her quilts were cherished gifts bestowed to family and friends. She knitted beautiful hats and socks and other items. She was very proud of her husband’s service in the Air Force and often donated her handcrafted items to active service members and veterans through various charities. She had a talent for decorating and loved to decorate her home for holidays. She hosted countless holiday dinners, and loved to dress up for Halloween. She was an avid reader and sports fan, particularly of the Detroit teams, especially Tiger baseball, and of the University of Michigan Wolverines. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Her specialties included Polish stew, her famous Kielbasa and sauerkraut, a traditional polish dish enjoyed by her family every Christmas, making her Mother’s recipe for chicken noodle soup, her mother-in-law’s recipe for English pasties, as well as her recipe for Raisin cookies which were a “Vincent tradition,” and even won a prize at the Monroe county fair. She was a dedicated Hallmark movie and soap-opera fan, especially General Hospital and One-Life-To-Live which she watched faithfully since her Junior year in College. She loved Dunkin Donuts coffee and Stroh’s ice cream, visiting Cider mills, water aerobics, and gardening. She maintained life-long friendships with the people she worked with and enjoyed her sorority sister get-togethers and annual “Old Ladies” Christmas Party which started in 1978. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She cherished the many games of pinochle she played with her sisters, annual trips to Frankenmuth, fishing with her husband, and attending her grandsons’ baseball games. She created a legacy of love which will live on forever.
