Buddy Chester Bobruk; age 76, February 24, 2016 of Woodhaven. Life-long love of Sally. Loving Dad of Brian, Jill (Chris) Watters and Duane. Dearest Grandpa of Ryan. Donations in memory of Buddy may be made directly to the family or to the donor's charity of choice. Bud was always taking on a new adventure whether it was woodworking, crafting, painting, building model cars, or working on completing his thousand piece puzzles, he kept himself busy. The hobbies he loved most were playing pool and fishing. He began playing pool as a teenager and continued throughout his life. He won many pool related awards and has multiple pool sticks with personalized carrying cases. When you could not find him at home or not with family members, he was at the local pool hall. He began his love of fishing as a young child when his father, Stephen, taught him how to fish. They would go on the rowboat and fish in the Detroit River in Wyandotte. Sadly, his father passed away when Bud was only 9 years of age. A memory of his father was to hold onto the boat motor from those fishing trips. He had this boat motor on a stand in the basement until he was approximately in his late 40s or early 50s before he was able to let it go. He walked daily with Li'l Bit. Him and the dog would play for hours with a toy or Li'l Bit would rest his head on Bud's foot to take a nap. Li'l Bit would tilt his head back or tap your hand if he wanted to be petted and Bud always petted him. His parents, Florence and Joseph Glassel, always had a vegetable garden behind their garage and flower gardens in every spot in the front and back yards. Bud always dabbled in gardening, but in the past ten years he really flourished with flower gardening. He planted all types of flowers and flowering bushes in Sally's yard. He was always looking for a new plant or design and would often move plants from place to place until he got it just right. In the past several years he was filling the yard with rose bushes. His favorite is a red rose. He has left lasting blooms for Sally and his children to enjoy for years to come. He always spent time with his children and made sure that they had what they needed. He spent hours at baseball games with his sons Brian and Duane and track events with daughter Jill. If he was unsure about attending an event he let us know why, but he never promised that he would be there so we would not be disappointed when we did not see him. This only happened a few times. He was there for all of the important moments of his children's lives. He would plan to do things with his children and grandchild and make sure we all enjoyed ourselves even if it was just to sit around and talk. Throughout his life he continued to teach or show his children how to do things, fix things, or show them what his new project was. He never stopped teaching or talking to people. Since his grandson Ryan was born, he spent numerous hours with him teaching him things the way he taught his own children. He always spent time with Ryan and included him in everything. He and Ryan would talk for hours at a time about anything they could think of and planned things to do. Bud left lasting memories for his family and friends.
