Beverly Monroe

Beverly Ann Caroline (Carlson) Monroe of Trenton, MI passed away Tuesday July 5, 2022 at the age of 87. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Beverly was an avid reader and genealogist tracing both her family Swedish heritage and her husband’s family heritage. A native of Detroit, MI, Beverly graduated from Wayne State University with a B.S. in Nursing. She worked in the Public Health field at various hospitals prior to her marriage to James Monroe on January 7, 1961. She later served as a School Nurse for Dearborn Public Schools. Beverly loved music and singing. She was a member of the choir at Faith United Methodist Church for a number of years. She also performed briefly with the Scandia Women’s chorus. She loved traveling and made several trips to visit family in Sweden. She traveled to Scotland, throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii, and all throughout the US with her husband James. James and Beverly enjoyed their cottage near Lapeer, MI and wintered in Ft Meyers, FL for many years. Surviving are her husband James Edward Monroe, daughter Elyse (Jeff) Allen, grandchildren Sandra (Jacob) Olson, James Allen, and Kristin Allen, and brother Carl Carlson. Beverly was sadly predeceased by Brent Edward Monroe (son), Ralph Carlson (brother) and her parents Ossian and Anna Carlson. She was loved by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Visitation for Beverly will take place on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 2-5pm at the Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 3200 West Rd Trenton, MI 48183. The service will be held Saturday July 9 at 10 a.m. for the public followed by interment at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
