Born Bette Louise Pursain on October 25, 1922, Ms. Carrell was born the oldest of four in Chicago, IL. Bette, the daughter of an Electrician, enjoyed a life that mirrored the years that have been collectively referred to as The Greatest Generation. A lover of music, a wide array of people and an interesting life. Miss Pursain was a modern woman of the '40's when she joined the United States Navy Waves just after the attack on Pearl Harbor 1941. As a Navy volunteer, Bette served as an office adminstrator in Washington, D.C. for three years. It was during this time that she met her future husband, U.S. Marine Fred Carrell upon his homecoming in 1945. After a three year courtship Miss Pursain became Mrs. Bette Carrell, marrying in Chicago in 1948. After four years living in Chicago, Bette Carrell moved with her Tailor-Salesman husband to Detroit in 1952 and later to Allen Park, MI 1955. The Carrells raised 10 children together between 1949 and 1964, enjoying a fruitful life together watching their family grow during the Motor City's heyday. Bette loved her children and grandchildren dearly watching them develop through both private and public schools in the Allen Park and various local Catholic schools. Her children rewarded her love by becoming successful business owners, fire fighters, marketing representatives, automotive suppliers, home designers, technology directors, teachers, parents, accountants, and internationally recognized musicians. Beloved wife of the late Fred. Loving mother of Lynne Jauss, Ralph Carrell, Neal Carrell, Mary Carrell Scopis, David Carrell, Theresa Carrell, Richard Carrell, Rosemarie Rembisz, Catherine Carrell and the late Robert Carrell.
