Bette Jean Bezeau, age 92, of Monroe, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Monday with her son, Gary, at her side, at Alice Lorraine Care Center of Monroe where she resided since August 2016 due to her fight with Dementia. Born April 11, 1925, in Ann Arbor, MI, Bette was the oldest child of 13 born to Ralph B. and Evelyn B. (Vail) Loveland, Sr. She attended Monroe Public Schools graduating in 1943. On April 21, 1944, she married William F. Bezeau, Jr. while he was on leave in the service and again in 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe, MI when he returned from the service. William passed away on March 31, 2003 just before their 59th wedding anniversary. Bette first worked as a secretary and/or bookkeeper at Monroe Auto Equipment Company, Michigan Gas Utilities Company for 13 years, Monroe County Clerk's Office for 4 years, The American Red Cross for 15 years, and Comboni Missionaries for 13 years until retiring in 1992. Bette was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe until it was transitioned to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Monroe in September 2014. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Lecter, Choir Member, and a member of the Christian Women. She was a member of Frenchtown Senior Citizens and played cards at Newport Senior Citizens. She was a member of several bowling leagues, two golf leagues, Relay for Life Monroe for the American Cancer Society, and started the Bezeau Annual Canoe Trip in 1967. The 50th year continues in August in her honor. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, painting, sewing, crafts, playing cards, camping, and canoeing. She especially enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ralph, Jr.(Irene), and sisters Helen (Floyd) Lajiness and Mary Louise who was an infant. Surviving are 3 sons, Larry (Diane), Barry (Karen), and Gary all of Monroe, MI; daughter, Karen (Michael) McFeters of Union City, MI; brothers, Jack, Verland (Helen), Donald (Jean) and Allen, all of Monroe, MI; sisters, Shirley Buckingham of Carleton, MI, Patricia Katanski of Monroe, MI, Judith (Roy) Gephart of Lambertville, MI, Linda (Raymond) Bottom of Jackson , MS, and Marilyn (Chad) Norton of Pacific Grove, CA; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; and extended family member Linda Davenport of Union City, MI. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church.
