Arvella M. Glascott

Arvella M. York Glascott of South Rockwood died on August 4, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Beaumont Hospice. She was born in Ferndale, Michigan on May 15, 1935, one of four children to Jesse Martin and Lorene (Rudolph) York. Arvella married Frank who was the love of her life on February 19, 1954 and together they shared 63 wonderful years. In addition to her husband Frank she is survived by her two daughters Cindy Lynn Glascott Flint (Jerry Flint) and Lori Ann Glascott Reed (Tony Reed); one son Craig Joseph Glascott (Lynn Glascott); her grandchildren Jason Flint, Kyle Flint, Nick Flint, Lindsey Buehrer, Russell Reed, Steven Glascott and Dylan Glascott; 11 great grandchildren and one sister Shelley York Kingsley who lives in Buda, Texas. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers. Arvella was a homemaker who cherished her family; she was a First Lady of the Swan Boat Club as well as serving as a Past President for their Ladies Auxiliary. Arvella worked at Ford Motor Company as well as A & H Sportland and for five years owned the Longbranch Lounge. Arvella and her husband lived in Newport, Michigan until retirement in 1993 and they then moved to the Lakes of the North where she enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with her grandkids and kids; in 2008 they moved to Florida and enjoyed the sunny state until they moved back to Michigan in 2018. She was an avid golfer and bowler and in her younger years she enjoyed her softball team. Arvella's favorite song was What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and for her it was a wonderful world and a wonderful life. A committal service is being planned for a later date and will take place at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by The Ford Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, Rockwood.
