Anne Marie Schropp Bradley, BSN, RN, 54, beloved wife, sister, aunt, godmother and friend died suddenly and peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Anne Marie, who had enjoyed robust great health her entire life, was diagnosed with leukemia on Saturday, June 8, 2024, and passed away three days later of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Mass of Catholic burial, Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Detroit, Michigan on Thursday, June 20. The family will receive family and friends at the cathedral from 10:30 a.m. - noon. A Florence Nightingale Honor guard will be performed at 11:45 a.m. prior to Anne Marie’s funeral mass at noon. Internment, Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery. Anne Marie was born in Dearborn, Michigan, August 9, 1969, the eldest child of the late James and Eileen Tynan Schropp. She attended Saint Joseph Catholic School, Trenton, Michigan, and graduated from Gabriel Richard High School, Riverview, Michigan, 1987. She entered Nazareth College, Kalamazoo, Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, 1991. Anne Marie completed her graduate studies at Wayne State University in Transcultural Nursing. She spent her entire nursing career at Corewell Health Beaumont Oakwood Hospital, Dearborn, Michigan. Anne Marie was a compassionate, caring nurse to thousands of patients. Her first 29 years, Anne Marie worked on a cardiac step-down unit. The past five years, Anne Marie was a registered nurse on the Vascular Access Team.
Anne Marie and her adoring husband Joe were two years apart in school, both attending Saint Joseph Catholic School, Trenton, Michigan, and Gabriel Richard High School, Riverview, Michigan. They had known each other since Anne Marie was in first grade. Though, it was not until the Summer of 1990 Joe, the son of Carol and the late Michael Joseph Bradley, had an extra ticket for the Detroit Tigers baseball game that they began their relationship. They were married on September 24, 1994, Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Trenton, Michigan.
Anne Marie’s parents instilled in all four of their children the importance of servant leadership. Anne Marie was a Nazareth Foundation Board Member and served in several leadership positions: president, vice president, past president and secretary. She guided and directed several Nazareth Foundation committees: Scholarship Committee, Spirit Day Committee, Grant Writing Committee and Finance Committee. Anne Marie was determined to keep the spirit of Nazareth College, Kalamazoo and the Sisters of Saint Joseph alive! Besides her twelve-hour days at the hospital, Anne Marie volunteered her time with the hospital. She was a Magnet Committee member, Nursing Clinical Inquiry and Innovation Fellow and over several years Anne Marie actively practiced in the Unit Practice Council, Clinical Practice Council and the Clinical Ladder Program. She was a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She was instrumental in many quality improvement initiatives to improve patient care and staff satisfaction. She helped to support the Principles of Patient-and-Family Centered Care. She facilitated a nurse preceptor program throughout the state of Michigan, teaching the onboarding of new nurses and retaining them. Anne Marie introduced the Four Eyes Skin Assessment Check at the hospital, checking the patient’s skin for breakdown and decreasing pressure injuries throughout the health care system.
Anne Marie Bradley was recognized as a leader who was dedicated to her patients and the staff at Corewell Beaumont Oakwood Hospital. Anne Marie was the recipient of the Prestigious 2013 Nightingale Award ~ Excellence in Staff Practice Nursing and a DAISY Award recipient. She was nominated for, selected, and attended the 2011 Michigan Center of Nursing Institute Nursing Excellence program, and was chosen as a recipient of the Oakwood Everyday Hero Award, recognized at the Oakwood Healthcare System Nursing Excellence Celebration with the Nursing Excellence Award for Evidence Based Practice for her achievements over the years with the CPC and the Unit Council on her floor. She continued to grow in her clinical and leadership expertise, which made her an excellent role model. Her commitment to providing exceptional care to her patients was evident in her passion to look for evidence-based practice opportunities that would improve nursing practices in her unit.
A lifelong Catholic, Anne Marie was a member of Saint Vincent Pallotti Parish, Wyandotte, Michigan, Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Trenton, Michigan, Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, East Jordan, Michigan and Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, St. Pete Beach, Florida. She demonstrated her devotion to her religion through the Father Clement H. Kern Foundation, Detroit, Michigan and Most Holy Trinity Saint Frances Cabrini Clinic, Detroit, Michigan and supporter of the Irish Pallottine Missionary Center.
Left to celebrate her life and legacy are her loving husband Joseph (Joe) Michael Bradley, sisters Marguerite Schropp Lucarelli (Tony), Kathryn Eileen Schropp, and brother Christopher Charles Schropp (Mandy), mother-in-law Carol Waldo Bradley, brother-in-law Steve Gerald Bradley (Christine) and sister-in-law Anne Marie Bradley Rancilio (Marty). Nieces and nephews: Anthony and Eileen Lucarelli, Lucas, Noah and Kendall Bradley and Grace and Julia Rancilio. Predeceased by her loving parents James (2024) and Eileen Tynan Schropp (1996) and father-in-law Michael Joseph Bradley (1992), her grandparents Charles (1989) and Agatha Matreal Schropp (1992) and Peter F. (1978) and Josephine Farrell Tynan, III (1991) and her nephew Bruno Charles Lucarelli (2004). The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Corewell Health Beaumont Oakwood Hospital Dearborn, Michigan and Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit, Michigan.
