Born in Monroe, Ann was the daughter of Albert and Lillian (Milliner) Gallan. A 1964 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Ann went on to further her education at the Flower Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1968. She then received her Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 1993. She married the love of her life, Charles Mexico, on October 12, 1968. Ann served in the Army Reserves from 1990-1998, achieving the rank of Captain for the Nurses Corps, assigned to unit 323rd General Hospital in Southfield. Ann was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Christian Women and was on the Bereavement Committee. She also was a proud member of International Nurses Association, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1138 and she was a hospice volunteer. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and traveling, but her most treasured times were those spent with her family, especially her grandkids. Ann leaves to cherish her memory her children: Denise (John) Haynes of Monroe and Christa (Corey) Mexico-Jackson of Tampa, Florida; a step-daughter Amanda (Bill) Fleck of Sandusky, Ohio; grandchildren: Jessica Kitts, Rebecca Haynes, Alexander Jackson, Mikayla Jackson, Trudy Fleck and Eddie Fleck; a great granddaughter Avery Kitts; as well as her siblings: Albert (Sue) Gallan of Monroe, Thomas Gallan of Watertown, Tennessee, Veronica (Larry) Wilkerson of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Mark (Tammy) Gallan of Corbin, Kentucky and James (Elida) Gallan of Ingleside, Texas. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: John Gallan, William Gallan and Roger Gallan. Memorial contributions in honor of Ann may be made to St. John Catholic Church Cabrini Fund or the food closet.
