Ann MacDonald, age 95, of Monroe, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Promedica
Monroe Regional Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born April 14, 1929 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, Ann was the daughter of Anna (Dougher) and
Michael Kelly. She graduated from Hughestown High School in June, 1947. On June 18, 1949,
she married George William (“Scotty”) MacDonald. Soon after marriage, Ann and Scotty lived in
Jersey City, N.J. for a short time, then settled in Wayne, Michigan, where they raised seven
children. Ann was employed by Brownie’s Diner, Wayne-Westland Schools, and the Wayne
Community Center. Ann loved to spend time at their property in Atlanta, Michigan, and camping
with her large family. She also loved to cook delicious dinners for family and friends. In 1991,
Ann and Scotty retired to Ocala, Florida, where they lived until 2015. They loved to entertain
family and friends from “up north”, while living there. Ann was a member of Moose Lodge #1199
(Silver Springs, Fla) and Moose #884 (Monroe, Mi).
Ann is survived by five children: Susan Chalupka, William (Judy) MacDonald, Ann (Gary)
Akers), Thomas (Rozanne) MacDonald, and Michael (Tina) MacDonald. She also leaves
behind fourteen grandchildren: Bridget Chalupka, Maggie (Justin) Makarewicz, Robert (Aubree)
Akers, Elizabeth (Peter Vigeant) Akers, James Akers, Richard MacDonald, Pemai (Samantha)
MacDonald, Jade (Eric) Ellenbrook, Michael (Tayeh) Werth, Patrick (Alyssa) Werth, Michael
(Maggie) MacDonald, and Emma MacDonald, Kelly (David) Davis, and Max Maxwell. She also
leaves behind ten great grandchildren.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, her husband George (Scotty) MacDonald, as well as six
siblings: Michael (Slack) Kelly, Jack Kelly, James Kelly, Kathryn (Kitty) Studders, Aileen Terry,
and Maureen Mitchell; and their spouses Clara Kelly, Evelyn Kelly, Peter Studders, Don Terry,
and Anthony Mitchell. She also lost a son Patrick MacDonald and a daughter, Theresa

Very special thanks to all of the caregivers and staff at Wellspring Lutheran Home, Monroe, Mi,
and Rose’s Tender Home Care, Belleville, for their loving care of Ann.
