Alma C. Hopkins

Alma was born on March 6, 1919 and died at her home in Trenton, as was her wish, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late William C. Hopkins, loving mother of William A. Hopkins, and proud grandma of William S. Hopkins and Declan M. Hopkins. Also survived by her nieces and nephews as well as other loving family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Peggy (nee: Bistras) Martin and one brother James and his wife Leanne Martin. Alma graduated from Fordson High School in 1938 and at the age of 72 earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan, Dearborn in December of 1991. She retired from the Michigan Employment Security Commission and held many part- time jobs after her retirement. Alma was an active member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Trenton, and loved to sing in the choir. She had a vibrant and outgoing personality, a great sense of humor and was full of surprises. Alma loved her home and garden, and all the birds and wildlife that still come to visit. Visitation is on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 3 – 9 pm at The Trenton Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 3200 West Rd., Trenton. Alma will lie in state on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 2901 Manning, Trenton from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Liturgy which will begin at 10 AM; Fr. David Lesniak will officiate. Interment will be at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
