Loving father of Joseph (Nancy), Francis, Mary (John) Thomas, Melvin (Connie), Sherri MacDonald, Wendy (Greg) McEachern, Karen Hurley and Kevin. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his brother Alex McDonald, sisters Mary Spears, Laura Campbell, and Rita (Elliot) Henry, all from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
