Ada "Bonny" Stewart

Born in Humboldt, Iowa, Ada (Bonny) was the daughter of Dallas Porter and Anna (Benjamin) Butler. She proudly served our country in the United States Navy from April of 1944 until February of 1946. While in the Navy, Ada received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. She then married the love of her life, Amos Stewart, on May 4, 1947. Sadly he preceded her in death in 2005. Ada spent over 32 years working for the City of Detroit, first as a Bookkeeper for the Board of Education and then as a 911 operator, retiring in 1985. Ada leaves to cherish her memory her children: Jenny Lynn Stewart and Debby (Paul Faverio) Rabe; as well as two grandchildren: Laura (Robert) Cain and John (Heather Zawol) Rabe, a sister Ellen Haskins and her great grandchildren: Dylan, Ada, Nora, Desmond, Daxton and Cyndy; plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Lois Dale, a brother Dallas Butler, a niece and two nephews. Ada's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. The power of her love and kindness was felt by all and will live on in memories they treasure. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
