Sharon Dale Lang Mcquiston

Sharon Dale Lang McQuiston, age 86, of Trenton, Michigan passed away on January 19, 2024 in Naples Florida. She has been  a snowbird for the past 20 years, spending her summers in Michigan and winters in Naples.

Sharon was born in Trenton and was a 1955 graduate of Slocum Truax High School. She earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and she retired from Wyandotte Public School District in 2000. Sharon believed that every child could learn and excel. Her students and their families adored and admired her positive determination, motivation, kindness and loving heart. Many of her former students returned through the years to visit and thank her for the positive influence that she had on their lives.

Sharon’s number one priority was her family and she loved to tell others all about her daughters, and her four grandchildren, who were her greatest source of pride and joy. She loved devoting the majority of her time to attending their activities and functions in elementary, high school, and college as well as all their sporting events, and honorary and awards ceremonies. Sharon always had time to talk and listen to each of them; giving advice, sharing stories, singing, and most of all laughing. She took every opportunity to pray with them and teach them the importance of living a Christ centered life.

Sharon was a member of Michigan Order of the Eastern Star, a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton, and regularly attended St. Williams Catholic Church in Naples. She volunteered regularly at soup kitchens and clothing drives in Detroit, and generously donated to her numerous charities.

Throughout her life, Sharon participated in community theatre musicals and recreational dance. She had a love for swimming, shopping, boating, and enjoyed bowling on leagues with many of her former high school classmates and friends. She loved traveling, and visited over 10 European countries. However, her favorite place of all was the family lake house in Caseville, Michigan. Playing Euchre, jet skiing, having beach bonfires and attending Cheeseburger weekends are the fond and heartfelt memories that she helped to create with her family. Her beloved Maltese, Missy, was always by her side and was included in the many things she enjoyed.

Sharon’s faith and love for the Lord was endless. She enjoyed hearing and sharing stories with family and friends about His bountiful blessings and miracles. Heaven is getting a beautiful Angel.

Sharon is survived by her daughters Jamie (Brian) Smith and Jill McQuiston; grandchildren Jeffrey (Lauren) Smith, Jacob Smith, Melanie McQuiston and Victoria McQuiston; sisters Geraldine Schrader and Pamela Wells; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Miller Dean “Buddy” Lang.

Sharon always said that she wanted people to remember the happy times, and to gather and share in fond memories. So that we may honor her wishes, a mass will be held at St. Joseph’s church in Trenton and interment at Michigan Memorial this spring. We hope that you will join us. The date and time will be announced at a later date.

Contributions in her memory to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or Shelter to Home (Wyandotte, Michigan) would be appreciated by the family.
