Robert W. Asmussen

Robert was born on February 27, 1941 in San Luis Obispo, California and died on October 31, 2021 at the age 80; he was currently of Brownstown and formerly of Grosse Ile. Beloved husband of the late Patricia. Loving father of Laura Carey, Cathy Cooper, Mike (Laura), Kristie (Billy) Hand and the late Mathew. Also survived by his grandchildren Drake, Julia, Matisyn, Hannah, Abby, Lukas, Haley, Ben and Jessica. Dearest brother of Wesley (Kathy). Dearest uncle of Jon (Kathy) and Jenny (Branden). Robert’s love in life was his family; especially his grandchildren; he loved spending time with them and attending their sporting events. He was a long-time active parishioner of St. Cyprian Catholic Church and the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club. Robert served as a Board Member for the Archdiocese of Detroit and faithfully served his Church in many capacities. He was the Executive Director of Providence Medical Group. Robert was an avid golfer who loved sports. Visitation is on Wednesday from 4 – 8 pm and Thursday from 2 – 9 pm with a Vigil service Thursday 7 pm at The Allen Park Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (Corner of Goddard). Robert will lie in state on Friday at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, Riverview at 10:30 am until the time of the Funeral Liturgy at 11 am.
