Born in Newport, Nathan was the son of Charles & Pauline (Pankhurst) Tilley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 18, 1962 until January 15, 1965, and then married the love of his life, Carol Ann Burbo on July 23, 1966. Nathan worked for 35 years for Chrysler, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the American Legion in Trenton, was a Volunteer Fireman for Brownstown Township and was an Elder/Trustee with the South Rockwood United Methodist Church for many years. His hobbies and interests included Square Dancing, Bowling, collecting guns and recreational shooting, reading, hunting and woodworking. Nathan also was an avid Euchre player and he was a big fan of John Wayne and Elvis Presley. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and generous man, who passed on his vast knowledge to many people. Nathan leaves to cherish his memory, Carol, his wife of the past 47 years; children: Shannon (Mark) Manor of Newport, Gay (Jim) Elamon of Rockwood, Aaron (Denise) Tilley of Rockwood and Adam (Corina) Tilley of Gibraltar; a sister Shirley (Edward) Winter of South Rockwood, as well as twelve grandchildren: Paul Christopher Arendt, Daniel Robert Arendt, Amanda Carol Tilley, Aaron James Tilley, Rylee Arlene Elamon, Nathan Patrick Tilley, Lyndsi Rose Tilley, Kaysi Marie Tilley, Lynn Marie Thoms, Michael James Manor, Thomas Frank Breitenbach, Austin Scott Post; and a great granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth-Ann Thoms. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Norman Winter of Ottawa Lake. In addition to his parents, Nathan was preceded in death by a sister Sharon Winter In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Nathan's honor are asked to consider the South Rockwood United Methodist Church or Arbor Hospice.
